To the outside world Connor and Michele Evans have the perfect marriage, but something that happened one stormy night eight years before is coming back to haunt Connor and shatter Michele's world.

Eight years ago Connor had a one night stand when an airport shut down during a storm. He met a young woman, Kiahna Siefert, who reminded him of his wife during the early years of their relationship. The hotels were full and Kiahna offered him the couch at her apartment, assuming that her roommate would be home. But Kiahna's roommate was stranded at work ... afterwards Connor was horrified by his own actions and vowed that his wife would never find out, to be hurt by his indiscretion.

On a spring day, Kiahna heads out to her job as an airline stewardess. The plane hits turbulence and goes down over the ocean leaving no survivors. Her young son Max is left alone but Kiahna's will stipulates that he live with his father for two weeks to give Connor the oportunity to decide whether to keep Max with him or let someone adopt his son.

Connor and Michele's life is turned upside down when Max arrives. Michele can't see through the hurt and betrayal that she feels, but Connor falls for his son the minute he sees him. Michele opts to send her husband, two daughters and Max on the annual family camping trip while she deals with her feelings. When they return she realizes how Connor feels about Max. Michele wants him gone, but little does she know that Max can teach her a thing or two about faith.

Karen Kingsbury takes a real life situation and brings out the feelings and emotions of all parties. Watching young Max dealing with emotions that he can't decipher, readers wonder can Michele move past her pain in time to help a lonely little boy, and will Connor take responsibility for his own part in what happened? Oceans Apart is a moving, poignant story that you do not want to miss.
