In this Regency romance, Tess Golding works undercover for the government; she is also a member of the Society for the Enrichment and Learning of Females. Her husband died leaving people thinking that she was the indirect cause of his death. Tess's aunt encourages her to wed again so that she can have children but Tess feels like she was betrayed in her first marriage and wants nothing to do with it.

Heath Bartlett has been retained to delve into Tess's involvement in a crime. They meet again after many years of not seeing each other, and the sparks ignite even though Heath is almost engaged to another woman who can further his career. When a woman turns up dead with all the evidence pointing to Tess as the murderer, Heath knows that he has to find out who framed her.

Sari Robins creates an enchanting story filled with scandal, passion and deception. Tess and Heath have a childhood history that in the end brings them together regardless of the rumors of her involvement in a crime. Heath knows someone is out to get Tess, but can he find out who it is before they hurt her? The twists and turns in the story will keep you reading long into the night to get to the shocking ending.
