Sally lives next door to her best friend Jude and across the street from Michael. Michael has always been a ladies man but the latest brunette he brings home (Katie) seems to have more of a hold on him that the rest. Sally is extremely jealous since she still loves Michael, even though he broke off with her years ago. Jude, Sally's best confidante, knows that her friend is not over Michael, no matter what she says.

Sally loves to show the new girls just how well she knows Michael. Though this is usually enough to push them out of the picture, Katie moves right into Michael's flat. She's not wild about the idea of Sally living across the street, nor about the odd friendship that the pair has, but she is willing to make friends with Sally if it is important to Michael. Complicating matters further is Michael's original brunette (and first love), Sophie, who arrives in a whirlwind from Paris, throwing a wrench into Katie's and Michael's future plans.

Sally turns to Jude when the going gets tough. Jude is starting a relationship with Scott, who can't seem to relate to her friends. He will go out with them but just doesn't connect well. This may cause a rift in Jude's longstanding friendship with Sally. Michael's mother seems to love Sophie, and makes waves for Katie. However, Michael can speak for himself, and when everything comes to a head, the life they all knew will be changed forever.

Lauren Henderson's Don't Even Think About it combines romance, humor, and some heartbreak into a story with unpredictable twists. It moves along at a fast pace with many characters to track, but at the end, it will stay in your mind.
