The leads are conqueror and captive. Twenty-one-year Malina is a talented Dacian dancer, who has lost her family to Rome's brutal invaders. Roman general Julian Dakkia is the Emperor's nephew but also a shapeshifter whose emotions shift him into a powerful dragon. Once they are bonded, the dragon will do anything to protect Malina, but that might demand the end of an empire. The story opens on a legend of Minerva and her mystical gifts which are 'seeking the right sisters, the ones to right all of mankind's wrongs once and for all.' Of course, readers know that series protagonists will be those same sisters. As Julian fights against the emperor who betrayed his father, Malina makes a deal with the goddess Minerva.
