Menna van Praag is the author of The House at the End of Hope Street and The Dress Shop of Dreams, both magical reads, filled with surprises and quite a variety of romantic relationships. She succeeds in this once more in The Witches of Cambridge, which is about a close knit clan of male and female witches in Cambridge, England, each with their own challenge in finding the love of their life.

Amandine Bisset is able to feel the emotions of everyone around her. But recently she has lost it, distracted by her suspicion that her perfect marriage is in disarray - is her husband Eliot having an affair? And Amandine's mother Heloise, who 'can see things before they happen', seems unable to shake off her grief over the death of her beloved husband two years before. Will Heloise ever be able to find a way to live - and love - again?

Next there's a romantic triangle, infused with both humor and tragedy. Mathematics professor Kat Rubens has been in love with her best friend, George Benett (a male witch), for years, but has never found a way to share her feelings. Kat's younger sister Cosima is desperate to have a baby, despite the dangerous genetic condition that she and Kat share. She sprinkles magic into her baked goods and feeds some to George, who falls hard for her.

Finally we have Noa Sparrow, whose talent is a social nightmare. She hears others' thoughts and then can't help herself from blurting out their innermost secrets, which does not make her very popular! She encounters seductive artist Santiago Costa, who offers to take away this curse and help her win the job of her dreams - but at what cost? And why can't she see his secrets?

If you're in the mood for light fantasy and romance, then you won't go wrong with The Witches of Cambridge - it's delightful with a tinge of the dark side of magic, which the witches must come together to combat. Enjoy this endearing read and don't miss the mouthwatering Baking Spells at the back of the book.
