In this sequel to Angelique's Descent, Dr. Julia Hoffman has freed Barnabas Collins from the curse of being a vampire, and he plans to start a new life with his saviour in the Old House.

However he learns that a beautiful flower child, Antoinette, has bought the land where the house stood. She rebuilt it and decorated it as the exact replica of what it once was, Barnabas' old haunt. The place brings back the past with intensity. To top it off, Antoinette's resemblance to the immortal witch Angelique shocks him to the core.

When Barnabas explores the house, he finds his old coffin in the basement next to a mutilated corpse with all the signs of a vampire attack. Is one on the loose in his territory? Barnabas is determined to protect his family at any cost. He finds himself following Antoinette back in time to 1692 Salem, when many people were tried as witches and burned, hanged or drowned.

I still have chills after reading this spellbinding story that grips you right from the very beginning. It is creepy, suspenseful and offers good insights to the history of Salem. It contains everything that goes bump in the night, and will make the hair on your neck stand on end.
