Mercury Lauren is a popular author in the Chick Lit scene. She has struggled and worked hard, and now writes full time. All Mercury wants is a little respect, but her family (especially her brother) show her very little.

One night at an award ceremony, Mercury gets into a row with a man named Frank. He totally trashed the Chick Lit scene, even though he admits to never reading one such novel. In the end Mercury calls him a rude bastard and continues on her merry way.

Later she finds out from her agent Angel that Frank is Editor-in-Chief of the New York Times Book Review - a man who could get her the respect that she wants and deserves. Determined to make things right with Frank and to get him to read her book, Mercury will stop at nothing in her hilarious quest.

The sarcasm, wit, and amusing shenanigans that go on in Pursuing The Times, made me think of I Love Lucy. I loved the first person narration, that made me relate to Mercury. Of course I must not forget to mention the hot love scene, that left me with a craving for strawberries and champagne.

This is a book that cannot be missed, especially if you are in need of a smile - heck. I am still smiling!
