Honoria Todd has been hiding with her sister and brother for some time now, taking odd jobs so they will not starve to death. They have had a bounty on their heads since her father was murdered. The only place she can stay, to escape from the Duke of Vickers (who wants her) is the dreary Whitechapel district. One night she is summoned to the rookeries where Blade, a blue blood, offers her protection. She cannot refuse for he is a legendary master of the district in which she lives.

Blade is infected with a virus that makes him crave blood. He has also gained powers that make him almost immortal. Blade cannot understand why he is so attracted to this slip of a girl. He needs to be in complete control of himself every time she is around. Even though Blade knows who she is, he realizes that she is withholding the truth from him, hiding a secret. He wants to protect her from Vickers, but can he protect her from himself and control his craving?

This is wildly different from anything I have ever read in the romance department. What an imagination Bec McMaster has. When you first start to read you are thinking historical, yet it turns into a fantasy. I totally immersed myself in this book and the world did not exist. But as all good things do, it came to an end.
