Dr. Elizabeth Douglas was thrown back in time with her twin sister to sixteenth century Scotland. Once they adjusted to the time period, her sister married and Elizabeth was jilted at the altar on her wedding day.

Devastated, Elizabeth decides to use her modern day knowledge of medicine to save lives. But she has to keep her skills a secret in case she is accused of witchcraft. She decides to go to a friary to learn more about the herbs and plants of the area. On the way she ends up meeting a knight in shining armor.

David Murray is now the Earl of Kinloss, a title he never ever wanted. But being the only son left and with his father dying, there is no choice. Everything seems to be wrong, and now his sister is sick. David writes a letter to the friary, requesting a special healer to save her. David always felt alone, until he met Elizabeth, a healer from a different time and place. Now he has to figure out how to keep her on the Black Isle with him.

Elaine Coffman pulls off another excellent read, in this sequel to The Return of the Black Douglas. I found the story humorous and witty, edged with danger and intrigue, and laced with a love connection that is just plain hot.
