Elizabeth Mooney was white trash from a poor and abusive family. She set her sights on Howell Whittington in school, planning to marry him one way or another. He was the prince of her town, and she got what she wanted. What she did not expect was to be trapped in a loveless marriage to a very cruel and unfeeling banker with a mother in law from hell.

The first two years of her marriage were great and then it was all down hill from there, but Elizabeth stuck by her man. They are in church when her husband Howe has a stroke, and it turns out that he has a small brain tumor. When Howe wakes from his coma, he is a different man. He has no filters for his emotions, his appetites or the truth. He now wants to do good by his wife and family, and this actually scares Elizabeth. She has no idea how to handle this new husband. In the south, rich families keep up appearances, but Howe's new self has turned their world upside down.

From the moment I picked this book up, I knew I would not be able to put it down. I put off reading it because I didn't like the cover. But let me tell you it was great, well written, and hilarious from the start Next time I see Haywood Smith on the shelf I won't hesitate to pick her book up.
