Dominic Paget, the Earl of Bedford and a spy for the British, is gravely wounded in a skirmish in France. At death's door, he survives in the care of a beautiful gentlewoman. To her, he plays the French army hero, as her sympathies lie with his enemies, the Jacobins. Playing the part to perfection he seduces Julianne Greystone, praying that she will never learn of his betrayal. He realizes that she is innocent and naive with regard to the intrigues of war, but also intelligent and passionate. He feels the need to protect her.

Julianne has fallen for the handsome stranger in her home, but after saving his life she learns of his betrayal. He is everything she stands against, but trying to forget him will be difficult. Julianne decides to go to London where, unbeknownst to her family, she attends a Jacobin convention. In danger, and alone in the Tower, she prays that Bedford will come to her rescue and he does. Under his protection in his home the relationship builds. But Julianne must figure out her heart before it is too late.

I found The Spymaster's Men: Seduction excellent, its story realistic and believable. It has all the right elements tied together in a very neat little package. There is danger around every corner, deceit, and of course a ton of desire.
