Roxanne Bloom has had it with men and falling in love. After a series of bad break-ups, the last of which has her ex-boyfriend Raymond slapping her with a lawsuit for defamation of character, she's got a definite hate-on for any man who crosses her path - including famed dog whisperer Eli Gallagher. He might leave her hormones in a triple twist, but Roxanne slaps him down at every turn. But when her equally man-hating dog Lilith unleashes her fury upon Roxi's former boyfriend (yes, the same one who's already suing her) she has no choice but to beg for Eli's help and expertise to rehabilitate Lilith.

Eli realises that the only way he's going to win over both the ladies he's fallen head over heels in love with is with a lot of patience and TLC. With Lilith, it's a snap - with his expert guidance the abused Boxer is soon more than willing to allow her mistress to take over as rightful pack leader. Getting Roxi Bloom to unconditionally trust him is a much more daunting challenge, but Eli isn't backing down. If it takes the rest of his life, he's going to make Roxanne realise that they're soul mates.

Donovan does a nice job wrapping up her dog-walking series here despite perhaps channelling a few too many dog whisperer qualities from the real one, Cesar Milan. A sub-plot that has Eli searching for his biological father also ends up having a bit of an ick factor when his real dad's identity is finally revealed.

Even so, I enjoyed the finale, which alternated between rollicking and poignant, and features a believable romance between the smitten Eli and the man-hating Roxi. Her dog walking buddies, Bea, Ginger, and Josie, also provide plenty of memorable scenes as they urge Roxi to embrace true love, just as they have. If you're in the mood for a fun, breezy and sexy romance, then Not That Kind of Girl fits the bill.
