Laura Lee Guhrke adds another enjoyable chapter to her Girl Bachelor series with this latest confection that squares off a headstrong and outspoken heroine against a 'notorious, infuriating and immovable aristocrat' who also happens to be 'the most famous literary figure since Sir Walter Scott'.

Daisy Merrick has the worst luck when it comes to holding onto a job. Take her latest one as typist for example - it was not her fault that the odious Mr. Pettigrew cornered her in a closet and then had her sacked when she refused his lascivious advances. Determined to find her next position on her own initiative and merit rather than through her elder sister Lucy's many contacts, Daisy makes an appointment with wealthy publisher Lord Harry Marlowe. Upon learning of her literary bent, Marlowe has her fill in for a sick theatre critic. Her assignment: write a critique of Sebastian Grant, the Earl of Avermore's long awaited and much anticipated stage play.

Recently returned from a long sojourn on the continent, Avermore has his doubts about his latest work. He knows his play is not his best effort, but having fallen on hard times and with various estates to run, he had little choice but to fulfill his contract or lose everything to creditors. He can only hope that his past reputation appeases the play's backers, his fans and most of all, the critics. However, the scathing words of one critic in particular close down his play after a single week.

Livid, Sebastian demands an audience with George Lindsay, if only to throttle the fool and see him sacked. Unfortunately, Harry Marlowe is unsympathetic, and reminds Sebastian that he's three years late in turning in his latest best seller. When Marlowe goes on to assign George Lindsay as Sebastian's new editor, the author sees red. But nothing prepares him for the additional shock of discovering that his editor is a woman - a fiery haired, outspoken girl bachelor who has every intention of helping Sebastian re-discover his errant muse.

Guhrke has an uncanny knack for taking the simplistic plots that are the staple ingredient of so many historical romances and injecting real emotional depth. She fulfills that expectation in With Seduction in Mind as Daisy and Sebastian are forcibly thrust together to battle not only their individual muses but also their raging attraction. Laura Lee Guhrke has created another stellar and charming story that fans old and new will not want to miss.
