The backdrop to this entertaining paranormal series is a world in which demons are highly engaged, very active, and Heaven and Hell are simply divisions of a huge, otherworldly corporate structure. The series star, succubus Lilith (Lily) has worked for eons for Satan, whom she and her best buds (greed demon Sybil, ex-demigoddess Eros, and demon of desire Desi) call Martha. On top of her day job as accessories editor at Trend, Lily hunts regularly, delivering to Hell sleazebags who reach a climax without pleasing her first. After they turn to ashes, Lily's doorman Vincent disposes of the mess. In the first book, Succubus in the City, Lily fell hard for PI Nathan Colemen and outed herself to him - the story ended with Nathan needing time to think and Lily seeking consolation from her girlfriends. Now in Succubus Takes Manhattan, poor Lily not only has to deal with a prima donna of a male colleague on the rampage at work, but also with a love triangle at home (Nathan and talented ceremonial magician Marten with whom she shared a fling in Aruba), a kidnapping, and power struggles within the corporate hierarchy of Hell itself. Not to mention regular visits from the excessively irritating Bastform Akashic Librarian Azoked (who eats her out of house and home). Lily copes by alternating her investigations with shopping for haute couture clothes and accessories, eating at Manhattan's premier restaurants, and hanging out with her girlfriends. After the usual romp of an adventure, Lily ends up mentoring a promising young demon, Raven, and engaged to be married. To whom you wonder? Read Succubus Takes Manhattan yourself and find out.
