Amy Johnson is a flutist and an amateur sleuth. As a single mom, she assumes her dream of being a professional musician will never come true. She teaches music lessons to support herself and her daughter, Clara. Clara, who is also musically gifted, prefers to be a cheerleader - much to Amy's dismay.

When an opening becomes available with the Minneapolis Symphony, it is a dream come true for Amy. Thus begins the struggle between the demanding orchestra schedule and helping her daughter fit in with the cheerleading crowd (including participation in bake sales and sewing bees).

Strange things start occurring with the orchestra and Stefan, the first associate concertmaster and violinist, seems to be the primary target. All these happenings are impacting the orchestra's funding and it appears that the current season with be their last.

The mystery pulls readers in and Amy's attempts at amateur sleuthing are hilarious. The characters are intriguing and easy to relate to, and care about. It is also interesting to watch Amy's spiritual journey throughout the story.
