In 1814, Evangeline Munroe inherits the (one hundred and sixty-nine carats) Nightshade diamond from her aunt. Though warned of the curse on the necklace, Evangeline doesn't believe it.

Gilly immediately runs into Connoll Addison, Marquis of Rawley, a drunken man who tries to kiss her. Over time, she finds herself attracted to Connoll, but she is looking for a husband who will obey her. Evangeline only starts to believe in the curse when they start putting the diamond in people's pockets and things happen.

In 2007, Samantha Jellicoe, a retired cat burglar, finds the diamond in a wall while setting up security for a museum exhibit. At first she thinks that Rick Addison, the current Marquis of Rawley, put it there for her, but he finds a letter explaining the curse. Rick doesn't believe in the nonsense of a curse. But when an old boyfriend shows up to create havoc in the exhibit, Sam starts to believe in it.

Suzanne Enoch has a style of writing that reels in readers from the first page. I loved the way in which the story switched from 1814 to the present time, with a new couple finding the Nightshade diamond. The two stories center on characters who are feisty and fun, making Twice the Temptation refreshing and entertaining.
