Francesca and her sisters were raised lovingly by Lady Greentree in Yorkshire. Francesca wants to stay far away from her birth mother, Madame Aphrodite, who lives in London and whose profession (as a courtesan) she despises. Lady Greentree takes Francesca to London in hopes of making amends with her difficult, bossy brother. There, Francesca may find out some things about herself as well as her birth mother.

Sebastian Thorne was hired by Madame Aphrodite to protect Francesca and find the woman who kidnapped her many years ago. They first meet when Sebastian unwittingly gets stuck in the moors, where Francesca rescues him and then takes him home. He is immediately taken by her beauty. Sebastian has his own dark past and must reclaim his abandoned title before he can think of courting her. Keeping Francesca out of danger proves to be a difficult task since she is feisty and independent.

Sara Bennett has created a wonderful tale filled with romance, suspense and danger, and with a shocking conclusion. Francesca learns about herself and Madame Aphrodite along the way, paving the way for romance. Sebastian falls in love immediately with Francesca and will do anything to keep her safe. Mistress of Scandal - third in a trilogy about the kidnapped Greentree sisters, following Lessons in Seduction and Rules of Passion - is not to be missed.
