abe is eager to return to the Lost River Cave in New Mexico. He can't wait to see if Joy is still in the area. Seven years before, he left her to move on to an assignment that would help his career as an aspiring journalist. This may be his second chance at a love that he has never forgotten. When he left he knew that Joy could be pregnant. Later, a phone call to his brother told him all he needed to know - Joy had accepted the money he offered and taken care of the problem.
oy cannot believe that Gabe is returning to The Lost River Cave. When he left her, she was an innocent, trusting young woman. He returns to find she's become a respected Ph.D. with a business only attitude. And there is the huge issue of the daughter to whom Joy gave birth just months after Gabe left. Joy does not want to open old wounds and give her daughter the hope of having a father and the possibility of siblings. But sparks ignite immediately making it difficult for Joy to avoid falling in love with Gabe all over again. She has already told him it's too late. Can true love overcome misunderstanding?
lizabeth Lowell creates the tale of a love that never died, in the context of a fascinating cave system - a good part of the story is about the history surrounding the caves, and I was very interested to learn about the procedures needed to search caves.
