When Sir John Hamelin, of the wealthy keep of Lelleford, flees to avoid false arrest for treason, his beautiful, unwed daughter, Lady Eloise, is stunned but determined to find the truth. She receives a further shock when newly knighted Sir Roland, the very man who opposed her marriage to his half brother, is sent by King Edward to take charge of Lelleford. Thrown into close contact, the two constantly strike sparks off of each other, with neither willing to give an inch.

But when the dastardly Earl of Kenworth makes it his mission in life to persecute Sir John, the squabbling duo join forces to investigate. Pretty soon, they become aware of the existence of a massive conspiracy. Things are further complicated when their mutual hate turns into an irresistible attraction and passion flares between Eloise and Roland. As danger and ardor increase, can these two make a match of it?

Shari Anton's latest historical romance has a headstrong woman and a bold knight as exciting protagonists. It's rich in atmosphere, with interesting details of day to day life inside a medieval stronghold. Bickering protagonists engage in witty, entertaining repartée. Action and simmering passion spice up a convincingly developed romance. The suspense and the twist in the tale towards the end are an added bonus. Funny, intriguing and sexy, Once A Bride is to be savored.
