) in Linda Grimes' amusing and highly entertaining romantic fantasy series starring aura adaptor extraordinaire Ciel Halligan and her very close and very busy extended family.
rom the beginning, Ciel has been in a love triangle involving her best friend, bad boy Billy and her oldest brother's best friend, CIA agent Mark. All are
, human chameleons who can change their appearance at will. Mark's bosses know what he is, but the others keep their abilities a deep secret, though Ciel uses hers to help clients (who sign a non-disclosure agreement) as a
er latest client is her idol, superstar Jackson Gunn, who has a severe snake phobia. This has become a problem in filming his new action movie. So he hires Ciel to stand in for him. Which is fine, except that his wife is murdered just as Ciel has given him the perfect alibi - could he possibly be the killer? Or is it his sister-in-law or another member of their dysfunctional family?
s Ciel wrestles with this dilemma and starts investigating, there's also a lot to cope with on the home front - the imminent wedding of her brother Thomas and Mark's CIA spook colleague Laura. As maid of honor, Ciel has plenty of work to do - and her mother is watching closely to make sure she doesn't take shortcuts.
he Big Fix
is another hilarious romantic romp in this engaging series. As is to be expected, the aura adaptors work out
but complications arise in Ciel's love life along the way - and she has plenty of opportuntites to work on her own phobia (flying). If you're looking for a funny, fluffy summer read, this is it.
