Mercedes Lockhart is not your typical lady; she favours a smoky billiards room instead of a ballroom. Her father wants her to train his new protegé for a tournament he is arranging. But Mercedes has her own agenda concerning Captain Greer Barrington, who fits right into her plan to achieve her father's favour.

Mercedes has decided to seduce the very eligible Captain, so falling for him is not an option. There are rules she must follow, but when she accepts one of his kisses her desire to break the rules just might override all, even with the stakes so high.

Captain Greer is fascinated by this lovely creature who knows her way around a billiards table so well. She captivates him with every move she makes, especially when she is seducing the table itself. Mercedes contradicts everything he has ever known about women and this makes her dangerous in every way. This might not be just a game any more; it could be his life.

I love strong heroines in historical romances, ones who break all the rules of polite society. This tale of a billiards playing woman (when this was taboo) was quite refreshing. Who would have ever thought billiards could be so seductive and entertaining to wind a romance around?
