Melissa McGuire came home to take care of her grandmother, Nelly. Melissa, a producer for the local news station, is challenged by her job but that is nothing compared to her grandmother's antics. Nelly ends up at a fireman bachelor auction. She spends an enormous amount of money on a date with the captain, but when he shows up she plays sick and forces Melissa to go. Melissa is not happy that her grandmother tricked her.

Harry Brody loves his job as Fire Captain and takes it very seriously. He is appalled that he was pulled into the bachelor auction and even more so that the date will be with an old lady. When he shows up though, he ends up going out with Melissa because Nelly begged off. He has a decent time with Melissa but they have nothing in common.

Harry is even less happy when he finds out that a story is being done on the fire station's supposed curse and Melissa is the one producing it. Melissa has a news anchor who drives her insane but she needs the job and spends her days smoothing over crises.

Every time Brody and Melissa meet at the fire station, sparks fly but both of them have had past relationships that make them think twice about getting involved. They can't seem to stay away from each other and a relationship evolves, but a decision that Melissa makes for her story may make Brody think twice about them as a couple.

The Fireman Who Loved Me is a humorous romance - Nelly just wants her granddaughter to be happy and in a relationship but goes over the top trying to get her together with Brody. Jennifer Bernard is an author new to me who has earned a place on my keeper shelf with her Fireman series. I look forward to the next story.
