Candace Carmichael is living the high life in Florida buying and selling real estate - until the day the economy does a major nosedive. Not only does she lose everything, she drags her best friend down with her. Cheri isn't holding a grudge though; she's moved back to their hometown, is engaged to the man of her dreams, and is working at a job she loves.

Candy swore she'd never go back to Bigler but she's down to her last hundred bucks and her old clunker's about to die a painful death. Moving in with her mother is her only option. The fact that the local sheriff pulls her over for various safety violations before Candy ever arrives at her mother's, only makes her bad day worse - until she discovers that Bigler's sheriff is none other than her old high school pal, Turner Halliday - and to say that he's filled out very nicely is definitely an understatement.

Not that Candy has any intention of turning their long-time friendship into something more intimate. No sirree! Once her car's fixed and she's got more than two pennies to rub together, she's all about shaking Bigler's dust off her stilettos for the second, and last time. But Turner has other ideas. He's thoroughly enjoying getting reacquainted with his old friend, to the point where he wants a lot more than just her friendship. But how to convince Candy that the two of them are meant to be together?

Susan Donovan is back with another nicely written, fun-filled and romantic confection in I Want Candy. The characters shine, there's plenty of humour to go round, (especially at her mom's retirement village) and, as always in Donovan's stories, there's a pleasing (and sizzling) romance between leads Candy and Turner.

If you've got a couple of free hours during the Easter long weekend then make sure that Mr. Bunny leaves a copy of I Want Candy in your goody basket.
