Jessica Robinson came to Cricket Creek as a pregnant teenager after her parents disowned her. Her Aunt Myra took her in and gave her a home. Jessica raised her daughter, Madison, with help from Aunt Myra and then became a world class chef in Chicago.

She came back last year to help Aunt Myra revive her diner, with every intention of returning to Chicago, but ended up falling back in love with the town and stayed. She turns forty this year and Madison is bent on matching her up with one of the coaches of the town's baseball team, Ty McKenna, but Jessica wants no part of it.

Ty McKenna is a retired major league baseball player and knows Jessica from her cooking in Chicago. He usually brought a new woman every time he went to eat at the restaurant. He is taken by Jessica but can't seem to convince her that he is ready to settle down and be a one woman man.

Madison keeps pushing them together. Jessica is not happy with her, but gets to know Ty. She is especially cautious as they had a short fling the previous summer. She can't seem to stay away from him and knows she has fallen hard for him. She has not had a whole lot of experience with men and is nervous about starting a relationship with Ty.

Catch of A Lifetime is a witty story about a couple in their forties. It is refreshing to read a second-chance-at-love story; both Jessica and Ty deserve it. The secondary characters really tie the story together. Jessica is serious for the most part but Madison, Bella and Aunt Myra have outrageous moments. The story is witty, romantic and the small town setting makes readers feel among friends. I can't wait for the next Cricket Creek installment to revisit them.
