Matthew O'Brien was known as the town playboy, the love-em-and-leave-em type, until he met Laila. He really lost Laila because of her dad, who worried about what people were saying about his daughter. And after Laila Riley tossed away her career and her family's respect, she dumped Matthew anyway, assuming that it was only a fling.

The O'Briens plan a family Christmas in Ireland, and conspire to get Laila to go too. They know that Matthew and Laila are in love and hope to get them back together. Laila has concerns about being around Matthew and doesn't know if she can resist his charms. She still loves him and knowing that he is younger and a playboy, fears she might not be able to resist temptation.

Matthew has a plan. He wants to start over, with no romping in the sheets with Laila. He hopes to ask her to marry him, with the wedding in Ireland. It might just work if his family would only back off. Will Matthew win his love despite all the obstacles and pressure his family puts on Laila? While this evolves, his Gram (chief of the clan) is unexpectedly rekindling a romance with an old flame. This causes quite the stir within family ranks.

An O'Brien Family Christmas is a very refreshing romance, filled with witty dialogue and loving characters. There are times when you actually feel like you are in Ireland with this quirky bunch of people. Reading this story brings Christmas early, and makes you feel warm and fuzzy inside. Grab a hot chocolate, a warm blanket and settle down for a night with this festive tale.
