At the Donegal Plantation a re-enactment of the Civil War is taking place, and tourists flock to it. The plantation is known as a bed and breakfast, but also for its great dining and its haunting halls. But now it is a crime scene, as a body swings from a marble angel in a cemetery.

Ashley Donegal, the last surviving descendant of the plantation family, needs help. She turns to a team of federal agents who explore the paranormal. They use forensic sciences, along with a dab of intuition about the unknown. Jake Mallory, head of this elite force, is also a past love of Ashley's. He has a few ghosts of his own to deal with, and Ashley just might be one of them.

Ashley finds out that she still carries a strong torch for Jake; she never stopped loving him. She feels protected and safe around him. Ashley is also starting to think she is going insane due to an apparition that haunts her dreams. But maybe these dreams can help her solve the murder.

The team starts to unravel a mystery like no other at the Donegal Plantation. Pure evil menaces the halls, and secrets need to be unraveled before it's too late. In the process Jake and Ashley risk everything.

I did not put down this awesome, spellbinding book. Heather Graham weaves a tale that combines the paranormal with the evils of human nature - okay insane human nature - and keeps you hooked for hours. She paints the picture of an investigation very well, intermixed with old romance blooming like a new flower. Loved it.
