Tracy Deloche owns Happiness Key (a set of seaside cottages) thanks to her ex-husband who is now in jail. She has been trying to upgrade the cottages and fill them up so that she will have income coming in. She decides to date Marsh Egan but the date is ruined when Tracy spots her ex, CJ, skulking around outside her cottage. She thinks she must be going crazy because he should still be in jail.

Janya Kapur is dying to get pregnant and every time she sees a pregnant woman she feels like it is never going t happen to her. Now her husband doesn't even want to talk about it. Janya had married to escape an unpleasant situation and her family was furious. Her mother has just started talking to her again and is disappointed that she has not yet conceived, so she sends Janya a gift that will help.

Wanda Gray is a waitress who loses her job when the new owners decide to change to a Tapas bar and only retain the younger waitresses. Her neighbors talk her into opening a bake shop since pies are her specialty. But the shop down the street keeps taking her business by one upping her all the time - will her business make it?

Dana Turner and her daughter are the newest tenants of Happiness Key. Dana worked with Wanda but kept her job waitressing. Now Wanda talks her into coming to help out at the bakery and another tenant, Alice Brooks, takes her daughter to play with her own granddaughter while Dana is at work. Dana comes with a secret that is about to be found out - will she be able to stay in Happiness Key?

The characters of Fortunate Harbor (the sequel to Happiness Key) are unique and well developed. The story is set in Florida at a resort that used to be beautiful. The storyline is refreshing and has enough romance, mystery, and action to keep readers wanting more of this engaging series.
