aisy Merrick has the worst luck when it comes to holding onto a job. Take her latest one as typist for example - it was not her fault that the odious Mr. Pettigrew cornered her in a closet and then had her sacked when she refused his lascivious advances. Determined to find her next position on her own initiative and merit rather than through her elder sister Lucy's many contacts, Daisy makes an appointment with wealthy publisher Lord Harry Marlowe. Upon learning of her literary bent, Marlowe has her fill in for a sick theatre critic. Her assignment: write a critique of Sebastian Grant, the Earl of Avermore's long awaited and much anticipated stage play.
