For most of his young life Navy SEAL Caleb Dulaude (aka Do Lord) was considered trailer trash, with only his mother there to look out for him when she wasn't working multiple jobs to make ends meet. Caleb had always hoped that one day he'd be able to look after her the way she'd looked out for him. But when illness claims her at an early age, Caleb's rage against the man who'd abandoned and ignored them both shapes the direction of his life. His SEAL training has turned him into a hardened and crafty warrior, and one day, Caleb vows, Senator Teague Calhoun, the rich and arrogant man who'd fathered him, would taste the full force of his forgotten son's revenge.

Nobody really takes much notice of bookish and shy biology professor, Emmie Caddington - except Caleb. He finds himself drawn to her while attending his best friend's wedding. When he discovers that Emmie has a close association with Senator Calhoun's daughter, he can't believe his good fortune and coldly vows to seduce Emmie to get closer to the Senator's family. While flattered at the fine looking soldier's attention, Emmie is no fool. She's been burned before and senses that Caleb has ulterior motives. Despite his carefully orchestrated mission plan, Caleb begins to truly care for Emmie and her large circle of family and friends. It's not long before he harbours doubts about his ability to follow through with his personal vendetta - not if it means losing the respect of the only woman he'll ever love.

While not quite as character rich as Daughtridge's debut novel (SEALed With a Kiss) SEALed With a Promise still packs a powerful punch as two emotionally needy souls find love, and in Caleb's case must make a choice between exacting his revenge or offering forgiveness. This is another heartwarming and involving tale created by an author whose star is definitely on the rise.
