Dylan Creed might be grudgingly pleased that elder brother Logan has found happiness with his new wife and stepsons and his plan to bring their falling down ranch to its former glory, but that doesn't mean Dylan has the same goals. As far as he's concerned, he's in no particular hurry to settle down - until the night a former flame abandons their baby daughter in his truck. Shocked and then angry over Sharlene's blatantly selfish and thoughtless behaviour, Dylan vows to win sole custody of Bonnie and become the best damn father he can. But to do that he needs to head home to Stillwater Springs, Montana, and enlist Logan's legal help.

Town librarian Kristy Madison never expected to see her first love (Dylan Creed) again - not after the way he'd ended things five years before on the day of his infamous father's funeral. She's naturally speechless when Dylan strolls into her library halfway through story time dandling a toddler from his hip. Kristy vows to steer clear of him, certain that the womanizing rodeo star hasn't changed his stripes, baby in tow or not. Within days, Dylan has convinced her otherwise, however, and while he admits that he doesn't love her the way he used to, he promises that if she marries him, their union would be forever. Kristy wants to believe him, but just when she's ready to allow herself to reach for happiness with the only man she's ever loved, secrets from her past come back to haunt her.

This is the second instalment in Miller's engaging new trilogy featuring three estranged brothers who return to their small town roots to face old flames and personal demons. Dylan's story is filled with another stellar cast (including those of the four legged or furry variety) and an engaging secondary storyline that centres on a couple of unsolved murders. Kristy and Dylan's romance takes centre stage of course and both characters stand out as they confront their rocky past and look ahead to a happier future.

Nobody can beat Linda Lael Miller when it comes to writing contemporary western romance and Montana Creeds: Dylan is another winner.
