Whatever else you do this summer, donít miss reading Julie Kramer's Stalking Susan. TV reporter Riley Spartz is recovering from the death of her husband when she is handed cold case files by a police source who says the murders of the two women involved have never left his mind. Both died on the same day a year apart - and both were named Susan.

Riley opens a can of worms when she starts gathering more info and finds that other Susans were also murdered the same day and month of different years. As she gets closer to a solution, she finds herself at risk, but doggedly plows forward.

Kramer - who is a freelance television news producer for NBC's Today show, Nightly News, and Dateline, and before that, was an investigative producer for WCCO-TV in Minneapolis - delves into the behind the scenes of TV reporting. She brings authenticity to the pages of her exciting novel.

Riley's expose of a veterinarian who was not cremating the bodies of his patients - who either died or had to be put down - is a masterpiece that makes one wonder about the same thing happening to our own pets. As readers, we learn about ratings and how they make or break a station. We are given insight into the jealousies that exist between reporters and also the length reporters will go to break a story - including being shot with a taser.

Action abounds, suspense reigns, characters flourish, and Riley even gets to have a romantic moment or two. This is a fun book, one that is hard to put down. And one you will love. By the way, this is a debut thriller. Keep writing, Julie Kramer. And I'll keep reading your books. Bring them on.
