In basic, rhyming text, this picture book celebrates the simplest of pleasures: a rainy day.

Kids are playing at the park, when storm clouds move in. Rather than running for shelter, the children embrace the rainy day and engage in all sorts of imaginative play; only the presence of lightning brings them indoors.

'I'm a flower in a shower.
Splashing, splishing.
Look! We're fishing!
Make a boat.
Watch it float.
A leaf's a cup.
Fill it up.
'

The collage-like style of artwork adds a touch of jubilance to the already pleasant storyline in Rain Play.
