Colin is a tiny mouse, the runt of the litter. He is so little that his mother never lets him out of the house for fear he would get hurt. Colin's grandmother suggests that the family wrap Colin up in cotton to protect him, and then let him play outside.

Rather than protecting him, the cotton ends up putting Colin in all kinds of precarious situations. When he arrives home safely, but without his cotton, he finally convinces his family to allow him more freedom. 'So Colin went out into the great, wide world. Sometimes he got scared and sometimes he got hurt. But ohhhhhh ... it was worth it!'

The accompanying sketches are simple and colorful. Cottonball Colin is an easy to read book that has a nice lesson which will resonate with overprotective parents.
