This 10th Anniversary Collection based on the character born on the pages of Chirp magazine (who's always reminded me of a round-eyed, well shod Tweetie Bird) combines four Chirp books with extra behind-the-scenes material.

The headings are Play with Chirp, Read with Chirp, Travel with Chirp, Laugh with Chirp, and All About Chirp. This charming ensemble opens with Chirp's very first cartoon, that shows his egg cracking and the yellow chick popping out, red shoes first. The cheerful bird dresses appropriately for each occasion - from the skull and crossbones pirate hat he dons for a Treasure Hunt with his friends Squawk and Tweet to the red-cloaked SuperChirp outfit he wears for Sky-High Games.

There are riddles like 'What's the best day to go to the beach?' (Sun-day of course!), fill-in-the-blank stories, travel games to play, songs to sing, and jokes to tell. I especially like the Trick-or-Treat Maze combined with a logic puzzle. And young fans will appreciate the chance to meet Bob Kain, who draws Chirp and his friends, peek into his sketchbook, and learn to draw Chirp too. The Chirp Book offers little ones many hours of absorbing actities.
