Blair and Ardith are from very different backgrounds but they have one thing in command. Their family lives are killing them. Blair's lawyer mother desires to be a successful judge at any cost. Her family members have become props in her bid for the bench.

Ardith's alcoholic parents aren't interested in keeping Ardith safe. Her home is an endless keg party. They just want Ardith to grow up and party with them. Ardith locks her door at night to keep her brother and his sleazy friends away from her.

Blair and Ardith meet their police officer guardian angel when they are fourteen, but even he can't keep them safe from themselves and the users who surround them. When their heartbreak becomes his heartbreak, they will do anything they can to save him.

Reading Blair and Ardith's story is like scratching a mosquito bite, you can't stop scratching until it bleeds. And as much as it hurts, you won't be able to put Leftovers down until you finish it.
