Homicide Detective Jacqueline 'Jack' Daniels is having a bad day. Not only is her hair not behaving, but her partner has decided to transfer to Robbery, her dead father may not be dead after all, her boyfriend has proposed marriage, and a madman is out there in her city of Chicago creating havoc and causing deaths with deadly poisons.

Sound like a good premise for a book? Dirty Martini fits the bill to a fare-thee-well. After numerous citizens as well as police officers have been killed, Jack is given the job of tracking this mass murderer down. The man threatens to kill thousands if he is not given two million dollars. Since he has the know-how to carry out his threat, the payment is approved.

Jack is good at her job, takes no nonsense from anyone, is fast approaching middle age and would like to stop the onrush. She's loyal and has the courage for which her career calls. The story careens from page to page. Just when the reader feels nothing more can go wrong, it does. With breath-holding and page-turning intensity, Chicago and Chicago's finest become real.

In good conscience, I can't divulge any more of this finely crafted plot. Just know that it is a humdinger and will not disappoint. Dirty Martini is the fourth book in this exciting series.
