Atlanta attorney Katherine Adams takes a cruise to unwind, relax, and maybe kick up her heels a bit with an old friend. Those options disappear when the ship, the Ocean Majestic, is sabotaged and sinks. Before abandoning ship, Katherine discovers a man who has been murdered.

Along with a devious plot, Katherine also struggles with a horrendous trauma inflicted upon her when she was nineteen. Action abounds on the pages with surprises at every turning. Starting with a child custody suit Katherine had been defending, the story rolls on with increasing speed to a completely astonishing finale.

Who could have blown up the Majestic, the pride of the fleet, remains a mystery as Katherine and Delaney a romantic acquisition who also is an attorney and a former New York cop follow leads that take them to Rome and Portofino and Atlanta and on to New York City.

I had a little problem with the quick recovery to various wounds that Delaney suffered. That is minor compared to the kick I got from the plot unfolding, opening layer upon layer of suspense, subterfuge, deceit, and downright nastiness.

I must mention that Majestic Descending has been optioned for an upcoming movie. Mitchell Graham's storyline is taut, the characters have depth, and the backdrop can be visualized easily - a good book.
