Visions that seem to float in time and are activated in Harry's mind by sounds. Sounds of violent happenings - murder, rape, beatings, assaults. A serious childhood illness seems to have triggered these visions that no one else experiences. Unfortunately, this curse follows him into adulthood. The father of his friend Kayla supposedly committed suicide, and his daughter cannot accept that verdict. This leads both Kayla and Harry into danger and near death. Lost Echoes is Joe Lansdale's ninth novel. He presents his scenario and then takes the reader along for the ride. The premise of visions prompted by sounds makes for a good plot - eerie, but good. Harry Wilkes is a likeable character and his friend Kayla makes a good foil. Tad, his newfound friend and fellow drunk, is so off the wall that he's credible.
