Oh, the wonderful sounds that we made at bedtime when my sons were small with Mr. Brown Can Moo! Can You? Did you know that Mr. Brown can sound like a cow, a bee, a cork, horse feet, a squeaky shoe, a rooster, an owl, rain, a train, a butterfly, a horn, a big cat drinking, a clock, a knock, frying eggs, a gum-chewing hippo, kissing goldfish, and even thunder and lightning? Personally I always enjoyed the owl and the hippo most.

After each silly sound that Mr. Brown makes, Dr. Seuss challenges his readers, in his usual inimitable fashion, to do the same ... 'Mr. Brown can do it. How about you?' And every few sounds, you repeat them all in sequence, as in 'Eek Eek / Eek Eek / Cock-a-Doodle-Doo / Hoo Hoo Hoo Hoo'.

Whether your child is a slow talker or a chatterbox, this is the perfect playful picture book for exploring sounds together - high and low, short and long, soft as a butterfly or loud as thunder. On second thoughts, maybe not at bedtime.
