Such pleasure. I just ran across a book by Janet Evanovich that I hadn't yet read. If you're like me, that find makes a bad day a good one and a good day even better.

In Eleven on Top, bounty hunter Stephanie Plum makes a life altering decision. No more chasing creeps who skip out on their bail bondsmen, and ending up battered and bruised and covered with indescribable muck. She's going to work at the button factory in Trenton. When she's fired the first day, she gets a job at a dry cleaner's. That proves unsatisfactory when the establishment blows up her second day on the job and she's out on the street again.

The job at the Cluck-in-a-Bucket fizzles out also, with Stephanie wearing more grease than was used to cook the chicken. Then she starts getting threatening notes. When her car blows up, she takes them seriously. More and more mayhem occurs, which results in Stephanie getting covered in more muck. The mystery itself is as much fun as reading about the destruction of her wardrobe – piece by piece.

I love the character of Morelli, whom Stephanie finds irresistible – both in bed and out. Then there is Ranger who seems enamored of her - she finds him pretty darn hot too. Morelli's dog Bob has his own quirks – like eating everything in sight and then hacking it up.

The prize in all the Stephanie Plum novels is Grandma Mazur. Grandma has a predilection for attending funerals, whether she knows the deceased or not. Her driving skills leave a lot to be desired. Grandma's daughter takes frequent tipples to relieve the pressure of everyday living that sees her daughter Stephanie in danger and her mother encouraging Stephanie in her exploits. If you're in need of a barrel of laughs, Eleven on Top fits the bill.
