In this revised version of The Adventures of the Dish and the Spoon, Mini Grey injects riotous (and modern) new life into the familiar nursery rhyme adventure, whose ending has always been left open to the imagination.

This subversive retelling lets us know what really happened to the daring duo after they ran away. We see dish and spoon jumping off a cliff, and traveling (spoon on floating dish with napkin as sail) across the ocean to New York City. The spoon narrates, 'I didn't know where we were going, and I didn't care. / I knew the Dish would take us there.'

The pair make it big in vaudeville, but the Dish gets 'a taste for the high life' and spends all their earnings. They borrow from loan sharks ('sharp and shady' utensils with honed edges), rob a bank to pay their debts, and become infamous. They're separated, do their time, reunite in a Junk Shop, and discover to their joy that 'there's a whole new world out there.'

Kids and adults alike will delight in this epic account of what really happened in one of the great romances of all time - the unfinished story of the elopement of Dish and Spoon. There's a good message lurking in their too, about persisting through all the ups and downs of life. Don't miss this picture book thrill ride!
