As breakfast finishes, Arthur's Dad asks him to 'rake leaves in the backyard.' When he suggests his sister D.W. join him, Dad says she'll be helping with other things.

It's hard work even with a little help from Pal the pup. Arthur and Pal take a break, jump in the pile they've made and 'Pretty soon the leaves were scattered all over the yard again.' When Francine, Buster and the Brain show up, the Brain offers to demonstrate how to do it right. Then they all start raking to show Arthur the best way to do the job.

All that effort builds up another big pile - can you guess what they do with it? As a bonus to this Fall frolic, there's a cut-out on the back cover to make a Pal mask for Halloween.
