The premise behind Training for Life is to train, not just the body, but the mind and spirit as well. Consider that the mind and body are not separate, but work together to keep you well, both physically and mentally.

Rocker calls the mental exercises that will isolate and eliminate self-destructive behaviors, WorkIns. WorkIns are as necessary to your well being as the physical workouts. WorkIns help you to form positive beliefs about who you are and what you are capable of. These simple repetitive exercises empower you by rewiring your thoughts. Realize that just as your body needs continuous training, so does your mind.

Rocker's plan to Walk Your Way to Fitness and Weight Loss in Fourteen Days is explained extensively and a short-hand version for daily use is included for quicker access. This program also contains a mantra a day for each WorkIn exercise, coaching, plus daily Training for Life meals. The meals are appetizing and don't take much time to prepare.

Although the book is much like other exercise books that recommend walking, strengthening and toning for fitness, Rocker writes that if you do the same distance and exercises daily, eventually the body naturally adapts and you won't see the same results that you did in the beginning. To counter this problem she suggests her specially-designed, weighted WalkVest for added resistance. She describes the WalkVest as 'a light weight cotton vest, with pockets located around your torso. You load the pockets with half-pound weight bars, distributing them evenly among the front and back and right and left sides.'

Rocker's credentials for writing Training for Life are impressive. She is a former pro athlete, a professional coach and a motivational trainer.
