Kaszuba Locke In a soft plastic protective container, a Little Golden Book® Classic of The Saggy Baggy Elephant comes to life again in a reprint storybook! On center-stage is a 'happy little elephant' romping in the jungle, dancing with a 'one-two-three-kick'. But his dancing feet 'shook the whole jungle', and his kicks knocked over trees. A parrot stops to talk with him, 'Why are you shaking the jungle all to pieces? ... What kind of animal are you, anyway?' The elephant replies, 'I don't know what kind of animal I am ... I call myself Sooki.' The parrot tells Sooki 'your ears and nose are too big ... and your skin is MUCH too big for you ... You should call yourself Saggy-Baggy!' Wanting to improve himself, the little elephant tried very hard to 'smooth out his skin' by rubbing it with his trunk, and pulling up his pants legs. But all the wrinkles just fall right back into place. Sooki seeks advice from other animals on how he can reconstruct his body. The tiger suggests that he could nibble off a few pounds of Sooki's skin, the crocodile snaps his jaws at the elephant's ears, and a hungry lion approaches him in a cave. Kathryn and Byron Jackson's effervescent story, along with Gustaf Tenggren's expressive color drawings will bring a smile of glee to preschoolers. An accompanying CD provides music and sound effects, to play along with the read-aloud story. It's a great opportunity to dance and sing with Sooki! All together now ... one, two, three kick!
