In Ellen's 11-Star Spectacular Super-Deluxe Hotel, a girl takes readers along on flights of her imagination, each extreme moderated by a 'Well, actually' that brings it - just a little - down to earth again. (The final 'Well, actually' comes all the way down with a splash into a small swimming pool.)

It's quite a ride that Lawrence Schwarz takes us on, while Kelly Denato's zany illustrations reinforce Ellen's colorful imagination. She lives with her parents in a luxury hotel - or perhaps a desert motel. She meets celebrity guests - or perhaps they 'aren't that fancy.' She has exciting adventures as 'a world-renowned detective', interviewing suspects and searching for clues.

Ellen solves the case - in an upside down fashion - and wins as reward 'an all-expenses paid vacation to a tropical island resort. Well, actually ...' Kids will love, and resonate with, Ellen's wild and wacky imagination, while adults might just recall a time when they could dream like this too.
