Open this picture book and you'll long for the first snowfall. Watching all the dinos at exuberant play in a white landscape is enticing. Karma Wilson's cheerful verses describe the fun, while Laura Rader paints bright snowsuit and tuque colors onto snow shades of white and blue and purply grey.

It all begins, 'Dinos, dinos on the go. / Why are they out today? / To run and romp, / to slip and stomp / and ride their dino-sleigh.' They're on skis and snowboards, snowshoes, and skates. And they're kind of dangerous, as they build the biggest (wobbly) 'snowman in the town', and even cause an avalanche. That snowball fight looks like fun though, and I'll need one of those TRICERA-PLOWs around here some time soon.

Read this book to little ones and they'll long for winter to settle in. And all that (exhausting) winter fun makes for a long night's sleep, nice for adults too. These dinos end up crashing in the snow after their hot chocolates - 'Now they're done / But, oh, what fun. / Today was dino-mite.'
