Lindy is unable to deal with her sister June's murder, and so she flees her fiancÚ and family, taking June's baby with her to her grandmother's home in Galveston. She is on the run from everyone, including herself. In Galveston, her grandmother's place feels safe and brings back so many memories. Here, unexpectedly, Lindy finds acceptance and love and, finally, the strength she needs to get on with her life.

This is only Ashley Warlick's second novel, but she spins an accomplished story. In the unique voice of Lindy, we hear thoughts and dreams as well as the conscious life she leads with the other people in the story. Her speculations about what the baby might be seeing and learning help her to adjust her own world view.

Warlick has managed to get deep inside Lindy, and it is a treat to be a part of that young woman's coming to grips with the many facets of her life. It is also a treat not to have all the loose ends tied up at the end of the novel. Lindy still has to make her world right, and we are left to ponder how she will do this. Bravo!
