Alice Halpern started getting nervous when the time for a play date for her children and her best friend's son came and went. Lauren, almost nine months pregnant, was never late you cuold set your clocks by her. Alice, pregnant herself with twins, grew more restive when she couldn't track Lauren down with her cell phone. The police in Brooklyn were compassionate, but Alice felt they considered everyone a suspect in Lauren's disappearance, including Lauren's husband Tim!

Seven Minutes to Noon starts off running, and never stops until the end. A tightly woven plot keeps the story flowing. Diverse characters play well off one another as they keep the action tense and suspenseful. The tale is told from Alice's point of view, so that the reader suffers right along with her as she worries about Lauren. She also tries to keep her children - both the unborn baby and those alive and lively - from coming to harm, as she realizes her safe and secure world is slipping away.

You'll startle at every strange sound as you read Kate Pepper's second book. Best not to be alone when turning the pages of Seven Minutes to Noon.
