Tinker's Cove, Maine and reporter Lucy Stone. Mix the two and you're off to a good read. In Wedding Day Murder, Leslie Meier has done just that mixed them, I mean.

Lucy is supportive of her friend Sue's daughter's marriage to big bucks until the owner of those big bucks arrives in town and starts throwing his not inconsiderable weight around. So it's not a surprise when he is found floating, face down, in the harbor next to his rented but gigantic yacht. The number of suspects keeps growing as the people whom he offended are questioned. Lucy, told to keep her nose out of this murder, does her own investigating.

Lucy Stone is an engaging protagonist wife, mother, full-time working reporter, good friend, and amateur detective. What more can a book want? The plot is straighforward and written in Meier's delightful style. Her series of special day mysteries are always fun to read. The action moves along splendidly as the suspense builds to a very satisfying conclusion. One can always be sure of a few hours well spent with Lucy Stone.
