Fitness expert Michael Thurmond has helped thousands of people from every walk of life shed pounds quickly. He's a member of the 'Extreme Team' on ABC's popular television series, Extreme Makeover. Since no two people lose weight the same way, Thurmond has developed a body type blueprinting system 'that allows you to customize a diet regimen that’s effective for you'. He suggests filling out the 'Body Type Questionnaire' at the beginning of 6 Day Body Makeover, and then referring to the section that covers the five different body types.

Once your particular body type is pinpointed, you're on your way, ready to move on to identifying the right foods to spark weight loss and the possibility of dropping an entire dress size in just six days. Thurmond helps understand your particular metabolism. He also outlines body composition and metabolic characteristics, and explains why it is hard to lose weight. Each specific plan involves 5-6 small meals per day, with a recommendation to take part in 45-60 minutes of less-intense daily exercises. Thurmond recommends walking, slow jogging, treadmill, or stationary bike, claiming that these 'long, slow distance exercises' are 'the secret for shifting your body into a fat-burning mode'.

While there's a lot of planning and preparation involved in this makeover, the good news is that Thurmond has menus and serving sizes all mapped out, specifying amounts for men and women. The only drawback is that there's a lot of fish, chicken and turkey on the menu, including in mid-morning and afternoon snacks. Thurmond includes great looking recipes, but I can see getting tired of fish in a big hurry, particularly if I wanted to follow the diet for another week. Overall, though, 6 Day Body Makeover offers sound weight reduction advice with quick and safe results.
